Roles:
- Audit The HistoryMakers’ current website and develop a detailed RFP for The HistoryMakers’ next version of its website and digital archive.
- Market the digital archive to the higher education community and at conferences and meetings.
- Maintain and update The HistoryMakers current website.
- Develop strategic partnership with higher education partners to create innovative solutions and increased penetration and use of The HistoryMakers Digital Archive in the higher education community.
- Train others on the use of The HistoryMakers digital archive.
Requisite Skills:
- Proven website management experience.
- Knowledge of Drupal 7 or 8, HTML, CSS and FileMaker Pro
- Experience with video streaming, video encoding and digitizing.
- Experience evaluating web statistics and launching online marketing campaigns.
- Flexible attitude and proven experience working in a small team.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, strong editorial and proof-reading skills and high
- level of attention to detail.
- Strong command of branding, marketing, and communication on digital platforms.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to follow through on requests, queries and pitches and get rapid results.
- Ability to work autonomously and without a high level of support or infrastructure.
- Ability to devise creative and innovative marketing and public relations strategies and solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and academic project participants, as well as with
- users of The HistoryMakers content.

The HistoryMakers, a 501(c) (3) national nonprofit organization headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, is dedicated to recording and preserving the personal histories of well-known and unsung African Americans. It is the largest video oral history archive of its kind, and the only massive attempt, since the WPA Slave Narratives of the 1930s, to record the African American experience by the first voice. In 2014, the Library of Congress became its permanent repository.
The HistoryMakers Collection now numbers over 10,000 hours (3,100 interviews) of first person testimony recorded in over 413 cities and towns including international locations like Norway, the Caribbean, and Mexico. The earliest memory in the collection dates back to the 1700s.
