NABJ Congratulates Cathy Straight on Promotion to Executive Editor of National News for CNN Digital

The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) congratulates Cathy Straight on her promotion to executive editor of National News for CNN Digital.

In her new role, Straight will oversee CNN’s global digital platforms, including digital coverage of the top national news stories of the day.

According to CNN, Straight leads a 24-7 team of news writers and editors who cover breaking national news, national trends and entertainment for a global audience. She partners with CNN television newsgathering units to set national coverage priorities, and she oversees CNN’s award-winning “5 Things Newsletter.”

Straight previously served as managing editor for CNN Digital News. Prior to that, she served as senior assignment editor for National News at USA Today.

She is a 2007 inductee into the University of Southern Mississippi School of Mass Communication’s Journalism Hall of Fame, which is her alma mater.
