2015 Studs Terkel Award winners Maudelyne Ihejirika, Sun-Times Asst. City Editor and DNA Info reporter Darryl Holliday
From Community Media Workshop release:
For more than two decades, the Studs Terkel Community Media Awards have honored outstanding media professionals for excellent work in covering Chicago’s diverse communities.
The more than 60 journalists who have received the award in the past two decades are those that went the extra mile in sourcing stories, finding neighborhood voices and putting issues into a thoughtful context. This year’s winners are no different. They show that storytelling excellence is not bound to a specific platform producing work in print, on air and of course, online.
And now, the 2015 Studs Terkel Community Media Award winners are:
- Darryl Holliday (DNAInfo) and the Illustrated Press
- Maudlyne Ihejirika (Chicago Sun-Times)
- Monica Eng (Chicago Public Media/WBEZ)
- Sharon Cohen (The Associated Press)
The Studs Terkel Uplifting Voices Award honors a supporter of innovative journalism and storytelling that lifts up community voices. This year’s winner is:
- Adele Simmons (Metropolis Strategies)
The 2015 Studs Terkel Community Media Awards will take place from 5-8pm, Thursday, March 12th at Film Row Cinema, Columbia College Chicago, 1104 S. Wabash Ave. To purchase tickets, click here.
