Participate in the 2024 NABJCC X Chicago Blackhawks Career Day Activity!

The Chicago Blackhawks Foundation and NABJ Chicago are pleased to offer our student members the opportunity to further their interests in careers in sports journalism by presenting our inaugural Career Day. Career Day will include the following activities:

Program Highlights Students selected to participate in the program will have the opportunity to watch the team during morning skate alongside official team media outlets, to hear from a panel of beat writers, Chicago Blackhawks executives and broadcasters, attend the Chicago Blackhawks game from the official press box (pending availability) and sit in on the post-game press conference (pending availability).

Application Process Interested students should submit two pieces of writing:

  • A short essay (no longer than 250 words) that explains why you are interested in this program and what you hope gain by participating.
  • A short essay (no longer than 250 words) summarizing the October 21 Chicago Blackhawks game.

 

Writing samples must be submitted to advocacy@nabjchicago.org no later than  11/23/23.

Please include name, email address, school, and classification (e.g. freshman, sophomore, etc.) on both samples.

Application Timeline NABJ Application to go Live: (Nov 2)

Students to complete Application by: (November 23)

Application Review & Selection: (November 30)

Notification of Acceptance Status: (December 1)

Game dates: January 16th and January 19th (each student attends one of the dates)

 

Program Dates: Two Chicago Blackhawks home game options in January will be offered for students. Students will join for one of the two game options.
