Reporting & Race: Young pros get real about black men in media

June 6 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Racial strife in the community, politics in the newsroom, a global pandemic and job insecurity – there’s no shortage of challenges many black men in media are facing today as they try to establish themselves in the industry in 2020.

So what keeps them going?

NABJ Chicago talks to four young black male journalists to talk about the challenges of the business and the coverage of black men during a hourlong Zoom panel, “Reporting & Race,” part of the National Association of Black Journalists-Chicago Chapter’s Black Male Media Project at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.

Follow the discussion on Zoom, Facebook Live and Instagram Live, and tweet your own experiences, questions and concerns about the subject before, during and after the panel using the hashtags #InspireBlackMen and #NABJChicago.
