TheGrio seeks an experienced reporter and writer with an earnest commitment to, and love of, storytelling for the Black community.

To provide the daily volume, frequency, and diversity of content theGrio desires, this staff writer will aggregate breaking and enterprise stories from trusted news outlets that are relevant to the Black experience. The aggregation writer must have a proven record of writing quickly and accurately in a daily print or digital newsroom. Adhering to foundational journalistic practices, the reporter has experience in vetting sources, crafting headlines, writing robust, arresting ledes, and determining when, how and from whom to augment reporting to provide context and balance. Additionally, the daily aggregation writer will draw from their solid hard news experience to ensure every story contains the fundamentals – those five W’s – and provides context on how the news affects Black people.

This position is based in Atlanta, Washington DC, Los Angeles, or New York.
