TheGrio, is a digital, video-centric news community devoted to giving voice to trusted figures on the front line who inspire us every day, and to fresh perspectives who buck convention because there’s more than one way to be Black. TheGrio’s editorial mandate is to focus on news and events which have a pronounced impact on a Black global audience.

With an eye for quality and accuracy, the Copy Editor will perform dynamic copy editing duties. The Copy Editor will read text for grammatical, typographical and factual errors, upholding the highest level of grammar, usage and accuracy. Copy Editors check over final drafts to ensure they are free of errors. They also make sure the writing is easy to read and fits the editorial style of the platform. We are seeking a reliable self-starter to work alongside a shift-based team to manage stories that are accurate, authoritative, and indispensable. The Copy Editor will ensure theGrio’s original news stories and aggregated stories are accurate and meet journalism standards.

This position is based in Atlanta, Washington DC, Los Angeles or New York.
