The Energy News Network is a nonprofit news organization covering the transition to a clean energy economy. We are seeking two freelance journalists in Chicago and/or downstate Illinois.
Newsletter writer, tech/clean energy
This is a new, grant funded contract position. The writer will produce a daily (M-F) email newsletter covering new and emerging technology, featuring original reporting as well as aggregated content. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and able to condense complex subject matter into crisp and engaging copy. The pay for this position is $6,000 per month (for roughly 120 hours); writer will need to be based in the Chicago area.
Reporter, grid modernization and equity
This is a grant-funded contract position that will replace a departing journalist. The writer will produce 3-5 articles per month covering grid modernization and related energy issues with a particular focus on equity. The pay for this position is $3,000 per month (for roughly 60 hours). Applicants can be based anywhere in Illinois.
