The Communication Consultant I develops and distributes communications through specific vehicles and messages targeting one or more of the seven key Allstate stakeholders (employees, consumers, customers, agency force, opinion leaders, policy makers and investors). They lead communication projects as assigned for the department that help accelerate Allstate’s competitive advantage through reputation, increase confidence in Allstate’s business strategy and create a more purpose-driven culture.

Job Qualifications
⦁ Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communication, marketing, journalism or related field.
⦁ 1-3 years of experience in communications or a related role.

Functional Skills
⦁ Written Communication Skills: Knowledgeable of Associated Press style and creative/persuasive writing. Able to simplify complex ideas into clear, concise messaging.
⦁ Interpersonal and Team Skills: Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Can easily establish new relationships and build rapport.
⦁ Presentation and Verbal Communication Skills: Experience preparing basic presentations, incorporating key messaging with coaching. Effective presentation skills and persuasive skills. Working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint. Graphics experience a plus.
⦁ Project Management: Ability to develop work plans that organize project work into discrete tasks, sequencing activities to achieve maximum efficiency.
⦁ Critical Thinking: Ability to gather and interpret information relevant to a problem or issue and escalate accordingly; can analyze information from various sources and identify additional information needs, making some connections to business goals and objectives
⦁ Communication Strategy and Planning: Experience assisting in the development and execution of communication strategy and planning process, including coordinating and implementing tactics with direction
⦁ Media Relations: Basic understanding of media relations practices, experience developing content and securing placement in media channels a plus.
⦁ Business Acumen: Understanding of business and industry practices, basic knowledge of insurance and financial services.
