NABJ-Chicago (NABJCC) has heard many concerns in light of the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights' decision to prohibit race-based programming and spending at universities. This shift in policy directly impacts the work we do to support and uplift aspiring Black journalists, and I want you to know that you are not navigating this moment alone. We have initiated conversations with numerous stakeholders to assess the implications of this ruling and to determine the best path forward. As part of our response, the NABJ Chicago Board is actively seeking meetings with university leaders to discuss how we can continue serving the needs of our student chapters and members while operating within the new boundaries set by this decision. Our commitment to ensuring that Black journalism students have access to resources, mentorship, and opportunities remains unwavering.  Know that NABJCC stands with student journalists, and we will continue to fight for spaces and resources that nurture the next generation of Black journalists.  Brandon Pope  NABJ-Chicago President
