Committee Details
Bylaws & Nominating Committee
Ensures the chapter’s governance and policies are up to date, fair, and transparent. This committee also manages officer nominations and elections to maintain strong chapter leadership.
Events & Fundraiser Committee
Plans and executes programs, events, and fundraising initiatives that engage members and support the chapter’s mission. From networking mixers to signature events, this committee keeps NABJ-Chicago active and vibrant.
50th Anniversary Sub-Committee
Celebrates NABJ-Chicago’s milestones by planning and coordinating special programs, producing a documentary and events to honor 50 years of Black journalism excellence in Chicago.
Mentorship & Outreach Committee
Connects seasoned journalists with emerging talent, providing mentorship, guidance, and opportunities for students and early-career professionals to grow in media.
Communications Committee
Manages chapter messaging, social media, newsletters, website, and public relations to keep members informed and amplify NABJ-Chicago’s voice in the media community.
NABJ Newsroom
Highlights member achievements, chapter stories, and industry news while keeping the community connected and informed through timely updates and coverage
Finance Committee
Oversees the chapter’s budget, financial planning, and fiscal health, ensuring NABJ-Chicago remains sustainable and transparent.
Membership Committee
Recruits, welcomes, and engages members, creating a strong and active community of Black journalists and media professionals in Chicago.
Scholarship Committee
Manages scholarship programs that support Black journalism students, helping the next generation pursue education and careers in media.
