Nonprofit News Organizations and NABJ Chicago Chapter team up for Mixer
Nearly 50 guests gathered at the M Lounge in Chicago’s south loop neighborhood for NABJ-CC’s Nonprofit News Mixer, sponsored by the Trace. The Trace is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit newsroom that analyzes gun violence in America.
The purpose of the July 19 event was to inform attendees of different news outlets that align with a nonprofit model.
News organizations ProPublica Illinois, the Chicago Reporter and Chalkbeat Illinois were also in attendance. Representatives from the organizations networked with area journalists about upcoming opportunities and how their work is transforming journalism.
Light bites and an open bar were available to guests. Several guests mentioned following up with the organizations for future collaborations.
