NABJ-Chicago Road Show – How You Can Help?
NABJ-CC needs your help! Our new “NABJ Road Show” mentoring project recently kicked off and we’re looking for media professionals to mentor students.
The “Road Show” brings writers, broadcasters, photographers and other journalists to Chicagoland high schools, colleges and youth programs. We’re particularly interested in reaching students in underrepresented communities.
On Oct. 19, our first successful event was held at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep Academy on the Far South Side, in Roseland. The journalists talked about their careers and discussed industry challenges. They participated in a Q&A panel with the students.
We want to keep events like this going, so if you’re interested in volunteering time either during the week after school, or on a Saturday, contact Will Jones at Will@nabjchicago.org. If you would like the “Road Show” to come to your school, college or organization, please contact Phil Thompson at phil@nabjchicago.org.
