Celebrity Media Coverage: Do Black Celebs Get A Fair Shake?

Sep 20th, 2011 | By admin | Category: Front Page, Whats Hot!

mediaWith fame, money and a sense of entitlement, it’s easy for stars to get in trouble and for the world to find out about it in real time. Front-page shenanigans of high profilers like Charlie Sheen, Tiger Woods and Chris Brown give some the perception that white stars receive more positive coverage than black celebs in similar scenarios. NABJ-Chicago is hosting a discussion that will shed light on how celebrity scandals are covered–from Tiger Woods to Charlie Sheen, from Michael Vick and Kanye West to Barry Bonds and Bret Favre and Eminem. Did Tiger Woods get a fair shake? Did Brett Favre and others get a pass?

The National Association of Black Journalists-Chicago Chapter and the Columbia College Radio Department invite you to join us for an enlightening forum on celebrity media coverage.  Mix and mingle with media movers-and-shakers on our panel and in the audience.
